Barton women wrap up successful home Classic
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team rolled to a pair of wins over the weekend at the Women's Pizza Hut Classic at the Barton County Gym. The Cougars concluded Classic Saturday afternoon with a 57-49 win over the Northwest Oklahoma JV. Friday the Cougars defeated the Sterling JV by a 69-51 score.

Hutchinson also went 2-0 at the event, defeating the Northwest Oklahoma JV Friday night by a 57-38 score and doubled up with a win over the Sterling JV Saturday, 72-48.

Highlights
The Cougars had to fight off a very good Northwest Oklahoma junior varsity Saturday, outscoring the Rangers 30-23 in the second half for the win. Heather Nittler led the Cougars with 15 points, including a 5-of-11 effort from behind the 3-point line. Natalie Arndt had her first double-double as a Cougars, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Barton County shot just 30 percent in the contest, hitting 20-of-66 shots from the floor. But the Cougars dominated the rebounding, winning that battle 43-32.

Friday night, the Cougars rolled to the easy win, putting three players in double figures. Akia Harmon led the way with 14 points, followed by Nittler with 11 points and Arndt with 10. Erica Blair come off the bench to grab nine rebounds and score nine points.

Barton will be at home again next weekend in the Cougar Booster Club/Walnut Bowl Classic at the Barton County Gym. The Cougars will play Midland College (Texas) Friday at 6 p.m. and Lincoln School of Commerce Saturday at 6 p.m.
