Barton County goes 2-0 in Pepsi Classic

            The Barton County Community College women's basketball team rolled to a pair of wins to start the 2001-02 season. The Cougars won a pair of games at the Pepsi Classic held at Barton County over the weekend.

            Barton County defeated Des Moines Area Community College, 100-55, Friday night then defeated St. Clair County (Mich.), 89-54, Saturday night.

Highlights

            Jenny Brown led four Cougars in double figures in the win over Des Moines Friday. The Pleasanton, Neb. native tossed in 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Laura Irvine led the way with 17 points.

            Tatjana Kiseljova led Barton Saturday night with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Sarah Kendrick added 13 for the Cougars.

 

Next Up

            Barton County will travel to Oklahoma for three games this week. The slate begins Thursday when the Cougars head to Wilburton to take on Eastern Oklahoma at 6 p.m. Eastern Oklahoma is ranked No. 24 in the country.

            Barton County will play in the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Classic in Wilburton on Friday and Saturday. The Cougars will tangle with No. 1 ranked NEO Friday at 8 p.m., then take on Ranger (Texas) Saturday at 6 p.m.
