Brown signs to play with Oklahoma State

            It may not be a popular decision in her home state, but Jenny Brown is excited. The Nebraska native signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for Oklahoma State University  Monday.

            "To be able to continue my career in the Big XII Conference is a great opportunity for me," Brown said. "My parents will get to see me play and I will be playing in the best conference in the nation for women's basketball."

            Brown, a 6-1 forward from Pleasanton, Neb., was  major contributor for Barton County her two seasons as a Cougar. She averaged 10 points and eight rebounds as a sophomore, missing eight games due to a stress fracture in late November and December. Her freshman season she averaged nine points and seven rebounds.

            Brown said she narrowed her choices to Oakland University in Michigan and Oklahoma State, but couldn't pass on the chance to play it the Big XII.

            At Oklahoma State, Brown will under a first year coach. Julie Goodenough recently took the head job at Oklahoma State, replacing Dick Halterman, whose contract was not extended. Halterman had coached 19 seasons at Oklahoma State, winning just more than 330 games.

            Last season the Cowboys finished 16-15 overall and 7-9 in the Big XII.
