Big hit escapes Lady Cougars in first shutout loss of season

The Barton Community College softball team couldn't quite come up with the big hit when it needed it falling 6-0 to Jefferson College in its second game Saturday at the BUCO Bash held in El Dorado, Kansas.  Stranding eight base runners the Lady Cougars had a runner aboard in all but two innings being limited to only five hits in being shut out for the first time this season.  The loss drops Barton to 20-11 on the season as the Lady Cougars will wrap up the weekend tournament on Sunday at noon versus North Central Texas College and 2:00 p.m. against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa.

Bailey Hensley, Brianna Ward, and Holly Posegate were the lone Lady Cougars to get a hit as Ward and Posegate both collected two hits each.  Kylie Everill and Taylor Bugner split the six innings pitched with Everill taking the loss falling to 3-2 on the season.
