The Barton Community College men's cross country team got a solid test Friday evening attacking their first 8K course of the season at the Emporia State University Invitational held at the Trusler Sports Complex.

Fresh off an individual title two weeks ago, Theo Leveque sustained his early season success earning a third-place finish in his first collegiate 8K race clocking a 26:09.68 to lead the five pack of Cougars in the field of 66 participants

Brandon Nguyen backed Leveque for the third straight time timing a 29:17.88 placing just inside the top-30 with a 29th place finish.

Crossing the line 47-seconds later would be Fabian Campbell turning in a 30:04.88 in placing 43rd.

Bryant Galvez and Jarron King would finish back-to-back with 53rd and 54th placings clocking times of 31:30.74 and 32:48.00 respectfully.

Barton will have a three week break before returning to the course October 14th at 5:30 p.m. competing in the Ollie Isom Invitational held in El Dorado, KS.
