Barton loaded in the sprints as the Cougar track and field team competes in the Masked Rider Open

The Barton Community College men's track and field team returns to indoor competition this weekend in the Masked Rider Open held on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.  The Cougars will be competing on both Friday and Saturday in two days of action at the Athletic Training Center against both four-year and two-year colleges and universities.

With a long history of excellence in the sprints, this year's Cougars are no exception.  Barton will be running six athletes in the 55 Meter Dash, with three of those having already qualified in the 60 Meter Dash for the NJCAA National Indoor Championships.  Sophomore David Winters is a qualifier in both the 60 meter and 200 meter while the freshman duo of Mike Simmons and Will Brown qualified last week in the 60 meter.  Barton will also have five in the 200 Meter Dash and three in the 400 Meter Dash.  800 meter qualifier Sampson Azumah Laari will be competing in Saturday's 1 Mile Run.
