The Barton Community College men's tennis team picked up their second win of the early season with a 7-2 victory Thursday at Kansas Wesleyan University.

Similar to its season opener at Bethel, Barton found themselves trailing after doubles action but fired back with sweeping singles play.

Gabriel Garay and Shane Tapera earned the Cougars' lone win in tandem play with a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 slot while Victor Alves and Hayden Loffler, as well as, Oliver Naude and Jaime Sigauque fell on the short side of 6-4 decisions in the No. 1 and No. 3 duo matchups.

Alves protected the No. 1 singles result with a 6-2 first set win before having to fight for a 7-2 tie break battle to sweep.

All other five matches were also decided in straight sets, Garay at the No. 2, Tapera at No. 3, Naude at the No. 5, and Loffler at the sixth spot. Mateo Prado, who set out the doubles action, had no problem in the No. 4 singles match in registering twin 6-2 set scores.

The Cougars now prepare for a trip next week to Plano, Texas, participating in the three-day Collin College Super Six/Bash beginning next Thursday against host Collin College.
