Barton Men's Soccer result at Iowa Western featuring Kimito Fritz

Hitting the road for the second time in a week to begin the season, the 11th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team netted an 86th minute goal Saturday in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to pull out a 1-1 result at No. 5 Iowa Western Community College.

The result moves to the Cougars to 1-0-1 on the season as the Reivers played their season opener.

Barton will next travel to Coffeyville Community College on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. kick before hosting 1:30 p.m. nationally ranked kick-offs on Friday versus No. 17 Indian Hills Community College followed by a Sunday hosting of No. 18 Jefferson College.

Iowa Western made the most of its one shot on goal in the ninety minute contest, grabbing its lead fifteen minutes into the contest on a strike far post.

The Reivers also had a 1v1 in the contest but fell short in execution against the Cougars' Dennis Bottcher guarding the pipes.

On the flip side, Barton outshot the home team 20-4 in total shots, sending ten towards goal and multiple other chances missing its mark until late in the match.

Kimito Fritz provided the draw result, registering his first collegiate goal as the sophomore tied the contest on an unassisted scoring play with just four minutes left on the clock.
