A native of Madrid, Spain, Gonzalez landed on the first squad of the All-North Region Team, while Armstrong, a native of Overland Park, Kansas, was a second team selection. The duo joined five others from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference on the twenty-two man list.
Both defenders helped lead a stout defensive line ranking second in the KJCCC and 23rd in the NJCAA with just 1.20 goals per contest allowed. The efforts helped the Cougars to a 14-5-2 record in the 2017 season, as well as, help earn two KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week honors for fellow freshman Luciano Trasolini.
In addition to their defensive duties, both played pivotal roles on the offensive end especially on corner and free kick opportunities. Gonzalez netted three goals off the situations, two coming in its pair of meetings against Dodge City including the game winner in Dodge City, while adding an assist to ice a victory against Garden City.
Sharing free kick duties with Benjamin Zamora, three of Armstrong's four assists came on either a corner or free kick opportunity with the final assist giving Barton a 1-0 lead in the District Semifinals before having the season end in an eventual shootout. The 5'8" versatile player also netted four goals on the season, two providing a 2-1 win over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa.
