Barton men's golf pulls away for third title of fall season, Bolander leads three Cougars atop leaderboard #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's golf team pulled away from a four stroke lead heading to Tuesday's Hesston Golf Course Shootout final round to win by sixteen strokes for its third title of the fall season.

Carding a Monday round of 287, the Cougars put the field in the taillights behind a 283 final card to distance Crowder College's 291 and 295 rounds. Barton also had a second team of entries in the six team field, sitting in third overall with a 305 but despite shooting an improved 301 slipped to the fourth spot thanks to Tabor College's closing 290 to leap over the Cougars.

Barton men's golf medalists Kaleb Lambert, Axel Bolander, and Worathan Thammachokecharoen at the 2023 Hesston Golf Course Shootout Three Cougars battled it out for the top spot, Axel Bolander prevailing for his third title of the season by carding 69 and 70 rounds for a 3-under 139 score.

One stroke behind after Monday's 70 round, Kaleb Lambert gave a run for his first collegiate win but his 70 final round card fell a stroke short at 2-under 140. Just two strokes behind in third was Worathan Thammachokecharoen in following an opening 72 with a 70 for the Cougars' third under par Tuesday card to finish at an even par 142 for the tournament.

Keegan O'Shea took home team bragging rights on Tuesday with a collegiate best 2-under 69 score, moving up eight spots on the leaderboard to 8th overall in leading the "B" grouping of Cougars at 6-over 148. Anthony Arriola tied for 9th in becoming the fourth Cougar in the top ten of the 30-man field, slipping from the third spot 71 round with a closing 79 to finish at 8-over 150.

The Cougars have nearly four weeks to wait for their final tournament of the fall season, participating in the 2023 Carmichael Cup held October 23-24 at Salina's Municipal Golf Course.
