Bolander drains program's first ever ace, Barton golf places three in top eight for runner-up finish at Crazy Horse Challenge #GoBarton

Barton men's golfer Axel Bolander

The Barton Community College men's golf team was caught in Wednesday's final round to finish runner-up at the Crazy Horse Golf Course Challenge in Hutchinson.

The Cougars led the eleven team field by four strokes after Tuesday's two rounds, posting 304 and 293 cards, but a slip to 308 in final round action dropped the Cougars four strokes behind winner Iowa Western Community College's 901 total.

Coming off a season opening victory last week in Hesston, Axel Bolander's Monday morning round of a par 72 came with the highlight of recording the program's first ever hole-in-one during competition in recording an ace on the 128-yard 16th hole.

Bolander would go on to card a 2-under 70 in the afternoon to lead the 69-man field by two strokes, slipping into 3rd place after Wednesday's final round 7-over 79 to finish at 5-over 221.

Simon Strandberg improved each round of the freshman's second collegiate tournament, following Tuesday's 76 and 74 cards with an even par 72 in finishing one stroke behind Bolander in 3th place at 6-over 222.

Two strokes back in 8th place with an 8-under 224, Kaleb Lambert fired a 2-under 70 in his second round in being sandwiched by an opening 78 and closing 76 card.

Others:
Worathan Thammachokecharoen +22, 238 (78-79-81)
Martin Chevallier +22, 238 (78-79-81)
Easton Fitzpatrick +43, 259 (86-82-91)

Barton returns to the links next Monday for the two-day 9th Annual Central Kansas Classic held at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course.
