Cougar golf improves in final round to place fourth at KWU Fall Invitational.
The Barton Community College men's golf team improved in its final round of the KWU Fall Invitational to place fourth in the seven team event held at the Salina Country Club in Salina, Kansas. The Cougars opened with a combined 25-over 305 on Monday before shaving off five strokes to move up the leaderboard with a 45-over 605.
Ryotaro Tsuji was the lone Cougar to crack the top ten following his 5-over 75 round with a 3-over 73 in moving up five spots with a 148 total. Kelby Titus bettered both his rounds from his collegiate debut last year at the Invitational by carding a 76 and a team tying best 73 score on Tuesday to move up four spots to a tie for 14th at 9-over 149.
Adam Price made the biggest jump up the leaderboard with 78 and 76 rounds to catch teammate Panupong Chuaychoo for a tie for 21st at 14-over 154. Chuaychoo, who was tied for fourth after an opening 2-over 72, tumbled down the chard with an 82 in the final round.
Coming in fifth on the Cougar squad was Renan Laveissiere with 76 and 79 rounds for a tie for 24th place 15-over 155.
Making the largest improvement between the two rounds, Takerngsak Chuaychoo carded an 8-over 78 in the final round to shave off eleven strokes for a 167 total. Matching the tie for 41st spot, Brandon Peters also improved from his 85 opener to post a 12-over 82 final round.
Barton's next time on the links will be next Monday and Tuesday as the Cougars head north to Gothenburg, Nebraska, to compete in the NJCAA District III Preview held at the Wild Horse Golf Club.
