Former Barton men’s basketball player Dennan Morrow begins his second season as assistant men’s basketball coach.

"It is exciting to have Dennan back at Barton,” said Barton Head Coach Craig Fletchall. “Not only is he a former player, but he has a great young coaching mind and has been mentored by Frank Martin and Bruce Weber the past few years at Kansas State. He was an outstanding student-athlete for us and knows what it takes to be successful on and off the floor."

A Larned, Kansas, high school graduate, Morrow played for the Cougars from 2008-2010 leaving his mark in the Barton record books in the process.  Knocking down 9-of-15 treys on his sophomore night in the 2010 conference matchup versus Colby Community College, Morrow etched his name atop the single game three-point performance next to Gordon Scott’s effort in 1998 and more recently the nine long ball performance of Kenny Enoch to conclude the 2015 season.  A team captain in his sophomore season averaging 9.0 points per game, Morrow also helped lead the Cougars to the 2009 Jayhawk West title during his freshman season.  Morrow finished his Barton career shooting nearly 46% from behind the arc, 42% from the field, connecting on 65% on his charity throws, and handled the ball with a 2.97 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Moving on to Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, Morrow played one season for the Moundbuilders averaging just over of nine points per game and 2.5 rebounds while also earning NAIA Academic All-American honors.

Morrow hung up the competitive playing days continuing his education at Kansas State University serving as the Wildcats’ manager while earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.  Staying on with the team as a graduate assistant while obtaining his master’s degree in College Student Personnel and Intercollegiate Athletics, Morrow spent a lot of time editing video and obtaining scout information for the team during his last two years.
