Ryan Wolf
Title: Head Basketball Coach

Ryan Wolf enters his third season as head coach at Barton County. In his two season as Barton's head coach, Wolf has guided the Cougars to a 50-11 overall record, and a 25-7 conference record.

Under Wolf's direction, the Cougars have spent much of the time ranked in the country, including some time at No. 1.

Last season Barton County won the Region VI title, advancing to the NJCAA tournament for the fifth time in school history. Barton took 7th at the National Tournament.

Wolf took over the position as head coach after serving as assistant coach at Barton during the 1998-99 season when he was half of the coaching combination that led the Cougars to their most successful postseason in history. Barton recorded a 35-3 record and placed second at the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament in 1999, after being ranked No. 2 in the country for much of the year and holding the No. 1 ranking for five consecutive weeks midway through the season. Thirty-five victories is the most ever compiled by a Barton men's basketball team in 29 seasons and the 98-99 team holds the second-highest winning percentage in a season with a .921 winning mark. Second place is also Barton's highest finish at the national tournament, just ahead of the Cougars' only other NJCAA tournament appearance when they placed third in 1991.

A native of Martinsville, Ind., Wolf spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas, before coming to Barton. Howard finished 17-13 in 1998, 20-10 in 1997, and 19-13 in 1996. The Hawks advanced to the Region V championship game in 1996 before losing to New Mexico Junior College.

As a college player, Wolf played off-guard for the University of Minnesota from 1991 through 1995. The Golden Gophers won the postseason NIT Tournament in 1993 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1994 and 1995. The team also won the Great Alaskan Shootout in 1994. Wolf is the all-time leading scorer at Martinsville High School, where he was a McDonald's All-American nominee and an All-State selection his senior year. Martinsville advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the Indiana State Tournament during Wolf's junior year. The team earned a No. 10 ranking in USA Today during Wolf's senior season.

He earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Minnesota. He and his wife, Laura, live in Great Bend.
