Barton men into region title game for first time in ten years, 20th ranked Cougars execute down the stretch to knock off 17th ranked Coffeyville #GoBarton

The 20th ranked Barton Community College men's basketball team executed down the stretch Friday evening at Wichita's Friends University to knock off 17th ranked Coffeyville Community College 76-70 in the Region VI Semifinals.

Tied for the 15th and final time coming at 68 with 2:54 remaining, Barton connected on 6-of-8 free throws and came up with seven defensive stops down the stretch to avenge its season's lone series sweep to the Red Ravens.

Into the Region VI Championship for the first time since 2013, Barton improves to 24-8 overall while the Red Ravens fall to 24-8.

Victors of nine straight, the third seeded Cougars will face 4th seeded Butler Community College in the 5:00 p.m. title game in seeking its first crown since 2001.

Cougar Downing sank 12-of-15 from the charity stripe to lead the Cougars with 25 points. Joseph Locandro added 16 points and 8 rebounds as Ring Malith gave Barton a spark off the bench with 13 points in knocking down 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Malith and Cooper Jackson each added 7 rebounds helping Barton to a plus-11 edge on the glass.

Hannes Saar finished with 10 points while Mozae Downing-Rivers adding 9 points and a game high 7 assists despite saddled with foul problems resulting in just 22 minutes of court time.

Landon Glasper buried four beyond the arc towards a career high 31 points with Jordan Wildy the only other Red Raven in double digits by adding 12 points and a team high 8 rebounds.
