Saturday night in Liberal was one of those nights as the Barton Community College men's basketball team's cold shooting caught up in taking a resounding 87-70 loss to 13th ranked Seward County Community College.

Despite the loss, Barton remains in third place in the West standings, falling to 7-4 and 16-4 with the first place Saints improving to 10-2 and 17-4. Like the Lady Cougars, the Cougar men will face their second straight ranked opponent coming up on Wednesday as No. 17 ranked Hutchinson Community College begins a three game home stand. Tip-off time for "Support Camp Hope" night slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Cougars shot well in first half action at 43.4% but 6-of-8 long distance shooting from the Saints in connecting on 65% of their floor shots led to a nine point halftime edge.

The Saints continued the hot shooting in second half play, increasing the margin to seventeen in the first five minutes before putting away the Cougars with an 11-0 run and a twenty-six point lead at the media timeout.

As the Cougars' shooting woes continued, Seward County extended the lead out to as much as thirty before Martin Vogts' trio of three-pointers late in the contest improved Barton's final shooting percentage while shrinking the final margin.

Akeem While led three Barton players in double digits scoring seventeen while Vogts and Elijah Ford each scored eleven.

Five Saints players reached double figures with Reggie Miller leading with fifteen. Montrevion Flowers's four treys on the night led to fourteen, Isiah Small off the bench added thirteen, and Mohamed Selmi and Devin Bethely contributed twelve and eleven respectively.

38.8% shooting plagued the Cougars on the night, the third lowest on the season, while the Saints' sizzling 56.9% is the best by opponent on the year.
