Eighteen treys sink No. 7 Cougars in loss to Cowley #GoBarton

The No. 7 ranked Barton Community College men's basketball team couldn't survive the barrage of three-pointers put up Wednesday night at the Barton Gym as Cowley College ended the Cougars' eight game win streak with a 100-92 victory. The loss cuts Barton's lead in the Jayhawk to one, slipping to 15-3 and 19-3 on the year while Cowley improves to 11-7 in conference play and 14-8 overall. Barton's next action comes Saturday as the Cougars travel to Allen County Community College for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.

Keshon Montague's career high twenty-seven points led four Cougars in double digit scoring. Marvin Cannon recorded his second double-double of the season with a twenty point, ten rebound night with four blocks while Elijah Ford just missed his sixth in also scoring twenty to go along with nine rebounds. Posting his ninth double-double of the season, Kawanise Wilkins finished with seventeen points and a game high eleven rebounds to go along with three assists and two steals.

Coming into the contest shooting just 31.3% from beyond the arc, Cowley knocked down eighteen of their thirty-two three-point shots including a 7-of-8 effort from Jeremiah Starks to lead all scorers with thirty-four points. Darnell Cowart added seventeen, Cedric Rembert with twelve, and Aaron McGee finishing with ten.
