Marvin Cannon of the No. 11 ranked Barton Community College men's basketball team has been named the week nine KJCCC Kansas MTXE Men's Division I Basketball Player of the Week. The award is the second for the Virginia freshman this season and the sixth total for the Cougar program this season.

Cannon played a huge part in Barton's pair of wins last week. In addition to his block per game ranking, Cannon is in the top twenty of four major categories including 8th in scoring at 14.8 points. The versatile and active player also grabs a seventeenth best 6.1 rebounds while being a solid shooter at 54% from the field and 80.2 from the charity stripe to rank tenth and eleventh respectively.

The Barton men's program has won two straight and six of the nine weekly awards. Atop the Jayhawk standings at 14-2 and 18-2 on the year, the Cougars' seven game win streak will be on the line this Saturday in another rugged conference game as Barton travels to Seward County Community College for an 8:00 p.m. tip at The Greenhouse.

Cannon's previous award came in week one, joining Noah Webster (Wk 8), Keshon Montague (Wk 3), and Kawanise "Squeaky" Wilkins' two awards coming in week two and week five of the season.
