The Barton Community College men's basketball team closed out the Best Western and Cougar Booster Classic at the Barton Gym with a Saturday night 80-54 victory over Hesston College.  Breaking open a tight game with a 10-2 run midway through the first half, the Cougars took an eleven point lead at intermission before blowing Hesston out of the gym with a 18-0 run to begin the second half.    Dropping the Larks to 1-2 on the early season, Barton improves to 3-0 with next action coming Wednesday in hosting Sterling College JV in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.   

Malik Rhodes led three Cougars in double-digits with a game high eighteen points knocking down 4-of-8 from long distance while fellow sophomore transfer Keeshawn Palmer provided a big spark off the bench grabbing thirteen rebounds and scoring twelve points for his first double-double of the season.  Sophomore John Barbee also reached double digits with ten points while Charles Norman and Jahlil Rawley each contributed nine with Rawley dishing out a team high five assists.

Cory Holt and Zac Neely scored nine each to lead a balanced Larks team with Heath Agnew grabbing a team high nine boards.

Highland Community College handed former Barton men's basketball assistant Matt Hundley's first coaching loss of the season holding off his Washburn University junior varsity squad 80-66.  Dontre English led four Scotties in double figures with fifteen points with Ryan Haskins and Jaquan Daniels contributed fourteen and thirteen points respectively.  Stephon Jackson added ten with D'Juan Scudder leading in rebounds with eight while Haskins dished out a team high five dimes.  

Eric Harms and Tom Huppe both came off the bench to lead Washburn in scoring with sixteen and fifteen respectively with Darren Spruill grabbing a team high five rebounds and three assists.
