A good start was something the Barton Community College men's basketball team had hoped for Friday night in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Instead, the Cougars got a dose of a hot shooting dominant No. 7 ranked Indian Hills Community College team as the host Warriors jumped out to a sixteen point early edge going on to win 88-61.   The Cougars settled down after the first five minutes as Indian Hills held a 43-25 halftime edge but the Warriors were too much in second half play building the lead out to as much as thirty-five points late in the game in winning its 69th straight home non-conference game.  The loss drops the Cougars to 1-2 on the season while Indian Hills improves to 2-0 as the Warriors had won their 28th straight season opener the night prior.  Barton will return to the court in the Hellyer Center to wrap up play on Saturday with a 4:30 p.m. contest against Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Derek Dorn knocked down 3-of-7 from behind the arc to lead Barton with eighteen points while dishing out a team high three assists.  Ezekiel Charles posted his third straight double digit scoring output scoring eleven points as did fellow freshman Anthony Smith coming off the bench for his second straight eleven point game while also leading Cougars in rebounds with five.

Jorge Rosa was lights out behind the arc for Indian Hills burying 7-of-9 as the transfer from Florida A&M dropped a game high twenty-six points.  Indiana University transfer Emmitt Holt scored twelve while Wichita State University transfer Ria'n Holland came off the bench to also add twelve points.

The Warriors shot 58% from the field including 14-of-29 from behind the arc (48%) while the Cougars shot 44% and were 6-of-18 on three-pointers.
