Enoch’s record performance powers Cougars to 78-69 win over Cloud County

The Barton Community College men's basketball team closed out the regular season Wednesday night at the Barton Gym with a 78-69 victory over Cloud County Community College.   Avenging a last second loss in Concordia back in January, Barton erased a three-point second half deficit with a 12-2 run midway through the half and never allowed the Thunderbirds closer than five points the rest of the way.  Finishing second in the Jayhawk West at 14-4, the nationally receiving votes Cougar team improved to 24-6 overall while dropping Cloud County to 3-13 in West play and 16-14 overall.  In a stroke of oddity regarding the seeding for the upcoming Region VI tournament, the two teams will battle again in a rubber match this Saturday as the Cougars will again play host to the Thunderbirds in the first round of the Region VI playoffs.  Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. with free admission to the public.

Facing the three-point second half deficit and each of the two times Cloud County drew to within five, sophomore Kenny Enoch answered the call for the Cougars.  Knocking down treys each time, the Indianapolis, Indiana, native dropped in a school record tying nine three-pointers on 9-of-14 shooting finishing with a career high thirty-eight points.  Ahmad Walker, who was a perfect 6-of-6 at the charity stripe, recorded his tenth double-double of the season scoring fourteen points and hauling down a career high fifteen boards including six coming on the offensive glass.   Providing a spark off the bench, freshman Tyron Hamby led the seventeen Cougar assist night dishing out four dimes while scoring ten points.

Devon Thomas led two Thunderbirds in double digits scoring sixteen points while dishing out a team high six assists.  Ridell Cammidge added fourteen points with Creighton Brinker leading in rebound with nine.
