Cougars finish off Brown Mackie Classic with twenty point win

The Barton Community College men's basketball team picked up another win at the Brown Mackie Classic in Salina with an 88-68 win Saturday over the junior varsity squad from Northwest Kansas Technical College.  The Cougars built a fifteen point halftime lead then held off any significant charge from the Mavericks to improve to 5-1 on the season while Northwest Kansas JV drops to 1-2.  The Cougars will next play on Tuesday against the Sterling College JV in 7:30 p.m. tip at the Barton Gym.  

Khalil Gracey came off the bench to lead five Cougars in double-digit scoring with twenty-one points.   Eddie Hunt increased his season high for the second straight night scoring thirteen while grabbing six rebounds.  Getting another solid performance from Jalin Barnes, the sophomore transfer scored thirteen while dishing out a team high seven assists and four steals to go along with four rebounds.  Tyrone Acuff added twelve and Christian Smith dropped in eleven with Kenny Enoch scoring all his ten points in the second half while dishing out six assists.

Aaron Hendricks had a big night to lead the Mavericks nailing 5-of-7 from behind the arc to finish with twenty-six points.  Jamal Green-Gaskin grabbed a team high nine rebounds to go along with his eight points while Taeler Bowen distributed six assists.
