Cougars bounce back to knock off No. 19 State Fair 82-74

Erasing the memory of a disappointing loss twenty-four hours earlier, the Barton Community College men's basketball team used a strong second half effort to knock off No. 19 State Fair Community College 82-74 Saturday afternoon at the Dodge City Classic.  Leading by three at halftime, the Cougars built a nineteen point lead and cruised the last four minutes to the victory improving to 3-1 on the season and keeping the Roadrunners winless at 0-4.  Barton will head to Salina next weekend for the Brown Mackie Classic for a 5:00 p.m. contest Friday versus Central Community College-Columbus before taking on Region VI foe Northwest Kansas Technical College JV at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Tyrone Acuff came off the bench with a team high nine rebounds while dropping a career high twenty-five points to lead three Cougars in double figures.   Jalin Barnes put together one of his best all-around games this season scoring sixteen and grabbing seven rebounds with three assists and two steals.  A night after putting up a career high twenty-three, Khalil Gracey shook off a subpar shooting performance to contribute thirteen to go along with seven rebounds.  Ahmad Walker led the Cougars with six assists to go along with nine points while Kenny Enoch led a thirteen steal performance by the Cougars with three.

Playing his first game of the season, sophomore standout Dondre Alexander led all scorers with twenty-nine points connecting on 7-of-10 behind the arc and 10-of-15 from the floor before fouling out with 6:40 to play.   Labeled as the one of the best pure point guards to have face the Cougars in the last five years, Ra'Chaun Martin put of sixteen points and dished out a game high eight assists to go along with five steals.  Like Alexander, Joshua Bailey came off the bench to ad ten while Selvedin Planincic led with nine rebounds to go with eight points.
