Cougars move up to No. 8 in national poll

Fresh off a weekend sweep to improve their record to 14-0, the Barton Community College men's basketball team moved from No. 11 up to No. 8 in the recently released NJCAA Division I national poll.  Barton is among nine fellow KJCCC schools either in the top twenty or receiving votes, with six of the nine coming from the West Division.  Fellow West Division school Hutchinson Community College is ranked No. 11 while East Division schools Coffeyville Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College are ranked Nos. 6 and 15 respectively.  Seward County Community College, Barton's next opponent, is receiving votes and stands at 8-2 on the season.

This past weekend in the Best Western Angus Inn Classic, Barton defeated Fort Scott Community College 71-56 on Friday and Brown Mackie College 85-73 on Saturday.   The Cougars are finished with their non-conference portion of the schedule and will take a break from action until January 4, 2012, when Barton opens conference play at home against Seward.
