Cougars move into rankings for 1st time in 4 years
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team is back in the rankings after a 4-year absence, coming in at No. 15 in the latest NJCAA poll. The Cougars, 10-0 on the season, were selected in the poll for the 1st time since the final poll of the 2003 season, when Barton was No. 4 in the country. Ironically, that 2002-03 team was No. 1 in the nation at 11-0 when Neosho County then coached by current Cougar coach Craig Fletchall, came into Barton and beat the Cougars.

The Cougars are 1 of 3 Jayhawk Conference schools ranked – all from the West. Pratt is 14th, Barton is tied for 15th and Hutchinson is tied for 19th. Chipola (Fla) is ranked No. 1 again this week with Redland (Okla) No. 2. Pratt is currently 13-1 this season with 2 wins over Coffeyville, including a 95-90 win this past weekend, dropping Coffeyville from the Top 20. Barton is tied for 15th with Snead State (Ala), who is also new to the ranking this week. Those two clubs are the two highest newly ranked teams in the poll this week. Hutchinson re-enters the Top 20 this week at 19th.
