Barton drops home game to Butler, 63-59
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team didn't get the breaks in the 2nd half Wednesday night as Butler County came into the Barton County Gym and pulled off the upset over the Cougars in Jayhawk West action. Butler won the see saw affair by a 63-59 score over the Cougars. The loss drops the Cougars to 11-16 and secures a losing season for the Cougars. Barton is now 6-7 in West play with 3 games to play. Butler has now won 3 straight and improve to 5-8 in the West and 16-11 overall. Cloud County visits in the final home game of the season Saturday. It is Hall of Fame night as 3 Olympic Gold Medal winners take their place in the Barton County Hall.

Highlights
The Cougars once again shot the ball extremely well, hitting 54 percent from the field on 23-of-43 shooting. But the Cougars had trouble handling the basketball, committing 20 turnovers in the contest that resulted in 20 Butler County points. That offset a 22-of-52 shooting night for the Grizzlies.

The contest featured 14 lead changes and 6 ties. Butler finally overtook the Cougars for good with just less than 6 minutes to play on a pair of free throws. The Cougars spent the rest of game on the Grizzlies heels. Barton tied the game 2 more times, the latest at 57-all on an Antanas Kavaliauskas layup. The Grizzlies, however, scored the games next 3 points and Barton could get no closer than 2 points.

The Cougars were paced by Marcus Barrett with 15 points followed Kavaliauskas with 13. Kavaliauskas added 7 rebounds to pace Barton while Aubrey Bruner handed out 7 assists and scored 9 points. The Grizzlies were led by Kevin Menifee with 21 points and AJ Calvin with 12. The Grizzlies, in the Jayhawk cellar just more than a week ago, are now just a game out of 4th place and a home playoff spot in the opening round as they won their 3rd straight game and 4th in their last 5 outings.
