Barton completes JV slate of schedule with win over Sterling JV
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team wrapped up the junior varsity portion of the schedule with an easy win over the Sterling College JV, 95-42. The Cougars' starters again saw very little playing time with each starting seeing just 11 minutes of action. The Cougars improved to 8-2 on the season with a big weekend ahead. Friday and Saturday will see Barton play host to Lamar – just one of two teams to beat the Cougars – and No. 14 Northeastern Junior College. Both games will be part of the Cougars Booster Club/Walnut Bowl Classic at the Barton County Gym. Brown Mackie will also play Northeastern and Lamar.

Highlights
Barton rolled to a big 1st half lead on the Warriors despite hitting just 45 percent of its shots in the opening half. The Cougars led 44-14 at the intermission as they held Sterling to just 5-of-30 shooting from the floor.

In the 2nd half, the Cougars regained their shooting touch, hitting 57 percent while putting up 51 2nd half points. Barton dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Warriors 63-28. Once again Antanas Kavaliauskas led the Cougars off the bench in scoring with 20 points. It was his 2nd straight 20-plus effort. JP Batista added 18 points on an efficient 8-of-8 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line in just 11 minutes of action. Batista was the only starter to reach double figures. In his past 4 games the sophomore has hit 39-of-51 from the floor.
