Barton opens conference play with win over Seward
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team started Jayhawk West play up just like it finished the non-conference slate off – winning. The Cougars returned from a month-long break with a 77-51 win over Seward County Saturday night at the Barton County Gym. The win moved Barton to 13-2 for the season and 1-0 in the West. Seward falls to 8-7 and 0-1.

Highlights
The Cougars gave Coach Soupy Campbell his 599th career win with the victory over the Saints. Barton took a 15-2 lead on the Saints out of the gates and never looked back on the way to the win. The Cougars shot 55 percent from the floor in the opening half while limiting the Saints to just 30 percent. That helped the Cougars build a 44-26 halftime lead.

The 2nd half was much of the same as Barton built a 29-point lead on the Saints. Four Cougars found double figures in the win, paced by Aubrey Bruner and Laurent Correa with 12 points each. JP Batista and Justin Rose followed with 11 and 10 points for the Cougars. No Cougar saw more than 28 minutes of action and all but one Barton County player scored. Seward County's Keoni Watson, the West's leading scorer at nearly 24 points a game heading into Saturday, was limited to just 8 points on 2-of-17 shooting from the floor. Waston was 1-for-10 behind the 3-point arc.
