Channel to play hoops at Barton County next season

Dylan Channel put up some impressive numbers this season at Rossville High School. The 6-6 forward will now take his talents to the next level as a member of the Barton County Community College men's basketball team. Channel signed to play for the Cougars next season as 1 of 5 in-state singings so far by the Cougars. Channel's final two choices for a college next season came down to Barton County and Hutchinson.

Channel was nearly unstoppable at the 3A level last season, averaging 25 points a contest and 9 rebounds. Channel poured in a season-high 41 points in a 54-52 double overtime loss to Mission Valley. He hit 16-of-22 shots from the floor in the game and 9-of-13 free throws. He was a unanimous 1st team All-Mid East League selection along with a 1st team All 3A pick by the Topeka Capital and the Wichita Eagle.

Channel has been a 1st Team All-Mid East league pick for three consecutive seasons starting his sophomore season. He also received recognition at the state level each of those three seasons. His sophomore year he was an honorable mention All-State in Class 2A and 3rd team All-State in Class 3A as a junior. All three season the Bulldogs season came to an end in the sub state finals, one game shy of a state tournament appearance. His junior season saw the Bulldogs end the year with a 19-4 record. Channel averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds as a junior.

Coach Soupy Campbell comments
He's really a very versatile player who is going to give us an inside-outside presence. He's a very good shooter, has good quickness and good jumping ability.
