Clark to play hoops at Barton County next season

Kendall Clark will bring his leaping ability and basketball talents to Barton County Community College next season. The senior at Blue Valley Northwest recently signed a letter-of-intent with the Cougars. He is 1 of 5 in-state signees that have been released by Barton County Coach Soupy Campbell.

Clark was a 2nd team All State in Class 6A last season at Blue Valley Northwest. The 6-5 forward averaged 15.9 points and 8.6 rebounds a contest as a senior for the Huskies. Clark was also a finalists for the DiRenna Award, given to the top basketball player in the Kansas City Metro area and was a McDonald's High School All-American Nominee.

Clark won the slam dunk contest at the recent HyVee Classic Kansas/Missouri High School All-Star game held in between schools in the Kansas City area. Clark had predicted he would win the contest 2 weeks prior and backed up his prediction by doing just that. During the slam dunk event Clark called his high school coach, Ed Fritz, from a cell phone during the semifinals. Fritz came out of the stands, lifted the all up for Clark, who then grabbed it from his coach and threw down a windmill tomahawk dunk. Clark scored 8 points in the game – including two alley-oop dunks – that Missouri won 98-91. Clark will bring a 40-inch vertical leap to Barton.

Coach Soupy Campbell comments
He's an excellent athlete. He played more inside than outside. That'll be a transition for him to play on the outside."
