Barton rebounds to for 93-83 win over Hutchinson
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team wasn't about to have anything to do with a losing streak of any kind. After losing for the first time in 11 games at Colby Saturday, the Cougars rolled to a 93-83 win over Hutchinson Wednesday night at the Barton County Gym.

The win improves the No. 5 ranked Cougars to 24-3 overall and 11-2 in the West while Hutchinson falls to 21-6 and 8-5.

Highlights
The Cougars bolted out to a 41-32 halftime lead, hitting 65 percent of its shots in the opening half. Barton connected on 17-of-26 shots from the floor and added 7-of-9 from the line to grab the big halftime lead.

The Cougars pushed the margin near 20 at times, but had to hold off the Blue Dragons down the stretch to secure the win and maintain a 1-game lead in the loss column for the Jayhawk West lead. The Cougars continued to shoot the ball well from the floor in the second half, hitting 50 percent in the final 20 minutes and 32-of-56 overall for 57 percent.

Robert Whaley posted a double-double in the win leading Barton County with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Rodney Epperson also tossed in 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Randy Pulley had 15 points and 7 assists while Stan King came off the bench to add 13 points and Justin Rose scored 12 as 5 Cougars found double figures.

Hutchinson was led by Josh Gonner with 25 and Brandon Gary with 20.

The Cougars return home Saturday to take on Butler County at 8 p.m. Five new members will be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at halftime of the contest.
