Cougars run winning streak to 9 games with win at Pratt
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team added another road win to their belt Wednesday night, winning at Pratt by a 75-63 score. Barton County has now won 9 straight games overall and 5 consecutive road games in the Jayhawk West.

The win moves the No. 3 ranked Cougars to 22-2 overall and 9-1 in the West while Pratt falls to 5-18 and 2-7.

Highlights
Barton County played the contest without starting forward Nouha Diakite, who stayed in Great Bend fighting illness. The Cougars got off to a bit of a slow start, but when Justin Rose hit a fast break layup on a pass from Randy Pulley, Barton took a 10-9 lead they would not lose the rest of the way.

The bucket by Rose was part of an 8-0 run capped by a Richard Chavez 3-pointer to give Barton County a 16-9 lead. The Cougars pushed it to 26-14 before Pratt cut the margin 10 at the half.

The Beavers came out in the second half and cut the Barton advantage to 5 with a quick 5-0 run. But the Cougars immediately pushed the lead back to 10 points when Rose capped off a 3-point play with a free throw following another fast break layup on a feed from Pulley.

A Robert Whaley dunk with just less than 15 minutes to play pushed the lead to 50-37. The Beavers did make one more run at Barton, cutting the margin to 58-53 with 9 minutes to play but a quick 6-0 by the Cougars put an end to that run. The Cougars kept a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Pulley led the offensive attack with 19 points, keyed by a 10-of-14 night at the free throw line. Pulley also had 6 assists. Rose ended with a good box score line, netting 15 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Whaley added 14 points and a career-high 15 rebounds to go with 3 blocks.
