Barton men win home opener
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 94-79 win over Seminole State College (Okla.). The win was the home opener for the Cougars, playing in the first day of the Pepsi Classic at the Barton County Gym.

In the day's other contest, Grayson College (Texas) knocked off Brown Mackie, 67-62. Saturday will see Brown Mackie take on Seminole at 5 p.m. with Barton and Grayson set for 7 p.m.

Highlights
The No. 1 ranked Cougars opened up a double digit lead in the opening half, leading by as many as 20 in the half. The Cougars took a 51-34 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Seminole rallied back to close the gap to within 10 a couple of times, but could never threatened the nation's top ranked team.

Five players once again reached double figures for the Cougars, paced by freshman Rodney Epperson with 17 points. Sophomore Robert Whaley followed 16 points and 9 rebounds for Cougars. Justin Rose and Randy Pulley each added 14 from the Cougars back court and Nouha Diakite tossed in 10 points and hauled in 9 boards. Pulley dished out 10 assists as well.
