Cougars survive scare from Garden; win 10th straight
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team made it 10 straight conference wins with a 70-62 hard-fought victory over Garden City at the Barton County Gym Saturday night.

The win moves the No. 3 ranked Cougars to 23-2 overall and 10-1 in the West while Garden City falls to 15-10 and 4-7.

Highlights
The two teams traded the lead several times in the opening half with Garden City closing on a 6-2 run to take a 29-28 lead into halftime. But the Cougars were not to beat on their home court.

Barton County shot 64 percent from the floor in the second half, hitting 18-of-28 shots. This after hitting just 9-of-30 in the opening half of action. The Cougars finally seized control of the game in the second half and put it away in the closing minutes for their 10th consecutive conference win.

Rodney Epperson scored 16 points to lead four Cougars in double figures. Randy Pulley added 16 points and 6 assists. Robert Whaley ended the night with 13 points and 8 rebounds to go with 3 blocks. Justin Rose finished with 12 points.

Garden City was led by Karlton Mims with 19 points thanks to 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point land. Rapheal Desroses added 13 and Alexander Bojic had 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Barton will have Wednesday off in the league before traveling to Colby Saturday for an 8 p.m. After the Colby game, Barton will play 3 of its final 4 at home.
