No. 6 Cougars improve to 7-0
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team kept its perfect record in tact with a pair of wins over the weekend at the Pizza Hut Classic at Barton County. The No. 6 ranked Cougars scored a 69-57 win over Eastern Oklahoma State College on Friday then improved to 7-0 with a 95-83 win over Labette on Saturday.

Highlights
Four Cougars scored in double figures in the Cougars win over Eastern Oklahoma, led by All-Tournament selection Omari Westley with 12. Jason Carter and Robert Whaley added 11 points apiece and Rapheal Posey added 10. Whaley also had seven blocked shots during the contest and Nouha Diakite grabbed eight rebounds.

The Cougars trailed much of the first half against Labette on Saturday, staring at a 47-39 deficit at halftime. But Barton outscored Labette 56-36 in the second half to pull away to 12-point win. Four Cougars again scored in double figures in the win, led by Westley, Whaley, and Carter with 18 points each. Aaron Patterson added 15. Whaley, the Pizza Hut Classic MVP, added 11 rebounds and seven blocked shots in the win. Westley and Patterson each added nine rebounds as the Cougars won the rebounding war, 62-36.

Coach Ryan Wolf moved into a tie for 4th place on the all-time wins list at Barton County. Wolf is now 68-11 in his third year at the helm of the Cougars. That ties him in wins with Steve Forbes, who was 68-28 in three years. Dan McGovern is at the top of the list at 188-62, followed by Jerry Mullen, 121-66, and Dick Nagy, 99-97.

The Cougars will be at home again this weekend in the Walnut Bowl/Cougar Booster Club Classic. Barton County will play Bacone Friday night at 8 p.m. The Cougars will take on Marshalltown (Iowa) Saturday at 8 p.m.
