Rose signs to play for Cougars

Rose signs to play for Cougars
Justin Rose became the first high school player to sign with the Barton County Community College men's basketball team, signing a letter-of-intent to play for the Cougars late last week.

Rose becomes another in a line of Junction City High School players to continued their career with Barton County. This past season, Elisha Fields and Gabe Martin were Junction City sophomores for the Cougars. Justin's older brother Josh transferred in to Barton County as well this past season and will be a member of the Barton County team next season.

"A big reason I came here is because my brother is here," Rose said. "We never have played together on a team and that was something I wanted to do."

Last season as a senior at Junction City, the 6-2 Rose averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds and also led the team in steals. For his play, Rose was named 1st team All I-70 League, 1st team All Class 6A, and was a 2nd team All-State selection. As a junior, Rose earned 2nd team All I-70 League honors.

"Barton has had some good basketball teams and I wanted to be a part of that," Rose said. "I like the coaches here and I also like the fact that the classes are small here and that should help in school."
