Cougars edge way closer to top of NJCAA poll
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team moved up another spot in this week's NJCAA National Poll, climbing to No. 2 in the country.
Barton County is now 11-0 after winning a pair of games at the Jayhawk Conference Shoot-Out in Coffeyville this past weekend. Barton County defeated Fort Scott, 92-64, and Kansas City Kansas, 95-59.
San Jacinto (Texas) is the new No. 1 in the country after previous No. 1 Indian Hills (Iowa) lost this week at Three Rivers (Iowa). San Jacinto (11-0) received 11 of the 16 first place votes, garnering 147 points. Barton County received two first place votes and 102 points. Okaloosa-Walton (Fla.) is third in the poll with two first place votes and 91 points. The other first place vote went to No. 4 Dixie State (Utah). Indian Hills fell to No. 6 with the loss.
Coffeyville (9-1) is the only other Jayhawk Conference school ranked in the Top 20, coming in at No. 17, down three spots from last week.
