What is Sports Medicine?
The art and science of sports medicine refers to the application of scientific and medical aspects indicated for the physically active. The practice of sports medicine includes Sports medicine (the prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries sustained from physical activity); Research (the discovery of new or improved techniques -- physical, biochemical, biomechanical, and behavioral); and Enhancement of participation performance (using nutrition, conditioning, biofeedback, psychology, massage, etc. to improve the capacity for improved performance.).

Who are Athletic Trainers?
Athletic Trainers are highly skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of athletes, clients, and patients in any physical setting. This includes the provision of preventive services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers are not to be confused with personal fitness trainers.
