Barton's Anshutz and Stinson selected for PTK All-Kansas Academic Team #GoBarton

Barton's BrayLynn Anshutz and Kadin Stinson named 2021 PTK Honor Society's All-Kansas Academic Team

BrayLynn Anshutz and Kadin Stinson, both members of the Barton Community College athletic programs, have been selected for the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society's All-Kansas Academic Team.

Anshutz, a sophomore from St. John, Kansas, is the daughter of Brian and Rhonda Anshutz. Majoring in Physical Education and Health, Anshutz is a member of the Barton Cheer team while juggling involvement in Barton's Community Service Organization/SPARK Entrepreneurship, Christian Leadership Organization, and a Great Bend Recreation Center Art Assistant. Balancing academics and service, Anshutz also served as the Vice President of the Barton PTK chapter and earned honors landing on the College's President's and Dean's lists and earned the 2020 Barton Admissions Office's Student Ambassador "The Rock" award. Future plans for Anshutz include transferring to Kansas State University in continuing her education.

Stinson, a sophomore from Emporia, Kansas, is the daughter of Deborah Sage and David Stinson. A key returning member of the Barton women's soccer team, Stinson is also a high academic performer landing on both the President's and Dean's Lists, as well as, receiving a third team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic honor.

PTK is the international honor society for two-year colleges and symbolizes excellence in higher education. Students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to join PTK. The PTK group at Barton spends significant time sponsoring local events as well as volunteering to support others' events.

Normally receiving a trip to Topeka to be honored along with their peers selected from other Kansas community colleges, the duo are also in the running for national consideration as the PTK's All-USA Academic Team will be announced in the next few weeks.

Anschutz and Stinson were amongst applications submitted by Barton PTK members, reviewed by an anonymous selection panel on their respective Barton campuses.
