Young Lady Cougars improve at Emporia State Invite

As the season continues, so does the improvement of the Barton Community College women's cross country team.  With three freshman runners competing amongst one hundred fifty-four participants at the Emporia State University Planet Sub Cross Country Invitational on Friday, the Lady Cougars shaved a combine six minutes off previous season's best performances.

Leading the Lady Cougars was Jenna Schroeder in 90th place by shaving 4:11 off her previous best by finishing the 5k race in 22:45.  Tabitha Kim, who led Barton in the season's opening race Colby, finished in 104th place taking over two minutes off her previous best to stop the clock at 23:26.  Kaycee Niermeier finished in 146th place, nearing her best time crossing the finish line at 27:45.

The Lady Cougars will next compete at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, at the Fort Hays State University Tiger Open held at the Sand Plum Nature Trail just outside of Victoria, Kansas.
