The Barton Community College women's cross country team opened up the 2012 season Saturday at the 64th Annual J.K. Gold Classic.  Hosted by Wichita State University, more than 64 athletes participated in the 4K run at the RAFT Golf Course.  

Sophomore Paulina Montoya paced two Lady Cougars in the top eleven placing 7th in a time of 20:04.43.  Fellow Ellinwood sophomore Michelle Klepper, running in her first competition of the season, finished in 11th place with a time of 20:15.29.   Sophomore Samantha Vachon's 22:23.01 was good for 42nd place while Lauren Belieu placed 62nd in 26:55.71.

The Lady Cougars next meet will be October 6 as they travel to Hays for the Fort Hays State Tiger Open.
