Cougar women distance runners open season at JK Gold Classic

The Barton Community College women's cross country team opened up the 2012 season Saturday at the 64th Annual J.K. Gold Classic.  Hosted by Wichita State University, more than 126 athletes participated in the 4K run at the RAFT Golf Course.

Ellinwood sophomore Paulina Montoya led the Lady Cougars placing 35th in a time of 16:31.61 while Colorado freshman Lauren Belieu finished sixteen seconds behind in 42nd place with a time of  16:47.47.  Fellow Colorado native and sophomore Samantha Vachon rounded out the Barton contingent with a 93rd placing in 20:26.88.

The Lady Cougars next meet will be September 22 as they head to Newton for the Tabor College Invitational.
