The night didn't go as planned for eight sophomores of the Barton Community College volleyball team as Dodge City Community College spoiled the home and regular season finale with a 3-1 victory (21-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-20)
Concluding the conference slate at 4-12 and 17-14 on the season, Barton will hit the road Wednesday for the first round of the Region VI/Plains District Tournament in a 6:30 p.m. first serve at 13th ranked and top seeded Seward County Community College. Dodge City completes at the slate at 10-6 and 21-8 on the year and will host Garden City in a first round matchup of the fourth and fifth seeds.
Tasiah Nunnery's last match in the Barton Gym produced a team leading 9 kills on a .242 attack, 13 digs, and matched Jaden Boden for team high net rejections with three each. Buse Kocakaya recorded 7 kills with Molly Norris adding 6 kills.
Cousins Jadyn Brown and Hanna Miller also played their last match together on the home court, Brown chalking up 6 kills and 10 digs while Miller added to her career lead with 11 digs to go along with, two of the Cougars' six service aces.
Playing a predominant sophomore lineup, Mya Maxwell put up 19 assists and 6 digs with freshman Bennie Horsch running the other 6-2 offensive attack with 9 assists and 7 digs.
