Miller and Leveque earn Week 3 Barton Sports Weekly Athletics Award Honors #GoBarton

Barton Sports Student Athletes of the Week for week of 9/6/22

Barton volleyball player Hanna Miller and men's cross country runner Theo Leveque have been named the week 3 "Barton Sports Weekly Athletics Award Honors" sponsored by Great Bend's Indentifications.

Hannah Miller earned her third KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week award averaging 7.36 digs per set anchoring Barton's defensive line to a four-pack of victories at the McCook Invitational to remain unblemished on the season.  Miller began the weekend with 21 digs to claim the program's all-time top spot in the category then tacked on 82 more in the final three matches while providing solid service receive of just three errors in 62 chances.

Dropping their opening two KJCCC matches on the road, Miller and the Cougars will look to get back on track Wednesday night as Barton hosts their home opener at 6:30 p.m. against Pratt Community College.

Theo Leveque had an impressive collegiate debut earning an eighth place finish at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic. The freshman paced the Barton four pack timing a 20:52.38 in the 191-entry field.

Leveque continued his momentum earning the KJCCC and NJCAA National Male Athlete of the Week. The freshman bested the the 58-participant field by 21-seconds at the Carol Swenson Invitational clocking the course record and rewrote the program best time with a 15:47.75. 

The Barton cross country team will return to the course Friday Setpember 23rd at the ESU Invitational held at the Trusler Sports Complex in Emporia, KS.
