Barton Volleyball tacks on four additional victories during second straight Nebraska trip; Miller into program all-time top spot #GoBarton

Returning to Nebraska for a second straight weekend, the Barton Community College volleyball team added four additional victories of the season participating in the McCook Invitational.

On Friday the Cougars earned a pair of sweeps over Western Wyoming Community College (25-20, 25-12, 25-17) and Ranger College (25-18, 25-19, 25-18) before adding a pair of 3-1 victories on Saturday over Laramie County Community College (25-14, 20-25, 25-19, 25-17) and Southeast Community College (25-18, 24-26, 25-21, 25- 10).

Improving to 11-0 on the season, Barton opens up conference play on Tuesday with its stiffest test of the season in a 6:30 p.m. match at 16th ranked Seward County Community College.

The big story on Friday was the career achievement of Hanna Miller, collecting 21 digs in the Cougars' opening sweep over Western Wyoming to take over the top spot of the program dig chart overtaking the 1361 recorded by Cristin Haines through the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Miller completed the weekend averaging 7.36 digs per set, compiling 103 digs in 14 sets to up her total to 1,444 and counting following 76 career matches.

Tasiah Nunnery led Barton in Friday's matches with 19 kills on a .300 attack percentage including a .385 in the opener on 11 kills and 11 digs in recording her fourth straight double-double.

As a team the Cougars posted a .234 attack on day one, keyed by setter Iris Oosterbaan putting up 55 assists while collecting 22 digs. The Cougars followed with a .257 attack on Saturday, Oosterbaan adding an additional 65 assists and 31 assists to finish the weekend with four double-doubles to average 8.57 assists and 3.79 digs per set.

Having her streak end in Friday's match against Ranger, Nunnery picked up another double-double in Saturday's first match against Laramie with 13 kills on a .444 attack and 16 digs before resting most of the weekend's concluding match. Buse Kocakaya led the team versus Laramie with 14 kills on a .393 attack, compiling a Saturday team high 21 kills and 11 blocks in seven sets.

Leading the squad in blocks for the four matches, Jada Davis followed Friday's six blocks with another 10 walls of denial on Saturday to surpass Kocakaya's 15 total for the weekend.
