Barton's Mykela Riedl lays full out for a dig in second action Wednesday night at the Barton Gym versus Pratt Community College.

Playing a solid three straight sets, the Barton Community College volleyball team swept Pratt Community College 25-13, 25-19, and 25-15 at the Barton Gym Wednesday night.  Barton improves to 3-2 in conference play and 5-9 overall while dropping Pratt to 3-2 in conference and 4-9 overall.  The Cougars will step out of conference play for the second straight weekend as Barton travels to participate in the Wyo-Braska Tournament held September 20-21.

Barton broke open a tight set with seven point run to lead 17-9.  Another six point run by the Cougars prompted Pratt to utilize their second time out as Barton held a commanding 23-12 on the way to a 25-13 win.

Leading by one in the second, the two teams exchanged four point streaks until the Cougars broke away with another four point run as Pratt again used its second timeout of the set to try to curb momentum.  Barton kept control of the set and captured the 25-19 win to lead 2-0 in the match.

In the third and deciding set, Barton left little doubt on who the better team was this particular night.  Grabbing a 10-6 lead, Barton stretched the lead to 18-12 before Pratt called a timeout.  Spending little time in the huddle during the break, the Cougars pounced for three straight points as Pratt utilized their remaining timeout.  Again spending little time in the huddle, the Cougars put away Pratt 25-15 to earn the three-set Jayhawk Conference sweep.

After this weekend's non-conference tournament, Barton will travel to Cloud County Community College on September 25 before returning home on Saturday September 28 to take on conference front runner Colby Community College.
