The Barton Community College women's track and field team concluded the season on Saturday with a 4th placing at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Championships hosted by Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas.

The Cougars claimed two individual titles among their eighteen scoring performances in compiling 90 points, just two points shy of third place Cloud County and eight points behind national runner-up New Mexico. Iowa Western claimed their first women's title in outdistancing the field with 177 total points. The result also marked the fifth straight year the women placed in the top five of the team standings.

Deborah Lowe won the first of two titles in the three days of competition, winning the final 800m race of the heptathlon on Friday. Posting personal bests in five of the seven events, Lowe also put the first four points on the board for the Cougars with a 5th place overall.

Barton also claimed its second and last individual champion on Friday as Kelsie Murrell-Ross claimed the shot put title with a 14.84m (48-08.25) throw. Murrell-Ross also made Barton history in Saturday's discus throw, launching a 47.41m (155-06) throw for the 10th furthest in program history to finish with the meet's second most points earned by a female field athlete.
