A 54th minute goal proved to be the difference maker Saturday in El Dorado as the 17th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team lost 1-0 at 6th ranked Butler Community College.

The Cougars had multiple opportunities to get on the board, outshooting Butler 10-2 in the first half including 5-2 on frame. The Grizzlies played more aggressive early in second half play to reverse the shot advantage to outpace Barton 13-9 on the launches.

Butler got the game winner 8:30 into the final half, keeping possession off a non-handball call the produced nifty passing slicing through the Barton defense with Kenzee Godwin's through ball being one-touched by Brooklyn Hunter to the upper-90 far post.

Despite surrendering the goal without a prayer to deflect the perfect shot, Nia Baker played perhaps one of her best games between the pipes saving eight of the nine shots faced as the hard luck loss dropped her season record to 9-3.

Barton will have the week off from competition in preparation of its final two regular season games, both with conference title implications on the line being played at the Cougar Soccer Complex. Saturday at 1:00 p.m. the Cougars welcome 15th ranked Hutchinson Community College in looking to avenge an earlier 2-0 defeat followed by a Tuesday 3:00 p.m. kick hosting Johnson County Community College in the teams' lone meeting of the year.
