Cougars pass final prep before big Texas Weekend #GoBarton

Hitting the road for the first time this season, the Barton Community College women's soccer team had no troubles Wednesday evening downing McPherson College 7-1.

The Cougars improve to 2-0-0 on the year while the contest counted as an exhibition for the Bulldogs of McPherson College. Barton will continue its' road trip traveling down to Tyler, Texas, taking on Trinity Valley Community College at 11:00 a.m. Saturday before facing No.2 ranked host Tyler Junior College at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Fresh off a hat trick in her Cougar debut Saturday, Nina Norshie sustained her hot start to the season scoring the opening two goals in a span of six-minutes structured off assists from Natalia Baltodano and Olivia Allen giving Barton a 2-0 advantage with 13:50 left in opening frame.

Just 10-minutes later Siaomee Bagnost upped the ante netting her second of the season cleaning up Rin Sato's deflected rebound shot.

McPherson would catch the Cougar back line off guard in the 57th minute as the Bulldogs entered the scoring column on Mya Gildon's shot attempt off Caitlin Buendia's setup pass.

Locked in a stalemate over the next 25-minutes, Barton would put the game on ice striking for four goals over an eight-minute stretch. Ivanna Faria found the net for her first collegiate goal before striking for a second time just 19-ticks later. Bagnost tallied her second of the game before Norshie completed the hat trick for the second time in as many games resting the score at 7-1.

Nia Baker improved her record in net to 2-0-0 while stopping four of five shots in her 76:50 of action with Ashley Melendez making her collegiate debut working the final 13:10 swatting away her lone attempt faced.
