No. 19 Lady Cougars take care of business in 5-0 win over Garden City; take over sole possession of third place

The No. 19 ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team scored four first half goals and coasted for a 5-0 victory over Garden City Community College today at the Cougar Soccer/Track Complex.   After a somewhat slow start, the Lady Cougars scored three goals in seven minutes midway through the first half then added a fourth with five minutes to play before intermission.  Barton quickly put the game on ice less than two minutes into the second frame and cruised to the victory.  With the win Barton improves to 13-3-1 overall and 9-2-1 in conference while Garden City remains winless at 0-16-0 and 0-11-0 in conference.  The Lady Cougars take over sole possession of third place with one regular season game remaining Wednesday against Kansas City Kansas Community College.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Cougar Soccer/Track Complex.

Barton leading scorer Bianca Barron started the scoring for the Lady Cougars in spectacular fashion with a header off of Olimpia Barron's corner kick.  Ruth Cazier scored back-to-back goals with the first coming six minutes later from an Emily Troll pass beyond midfield and out racing the Garden defenders to chip over the onrushing Garden City goalkeeper Karassa Prochaska.  Cazier scored again less than two minutes later after receiving a Barron pass and again out racing three defenders to knock it inside the far post past the sliding Prochaska.

Troll had the biggest day for the Lady Cougars as she scored the next two goals, the first coming after taking a Jessica Rosenberg pass and dribbling through and around four defenders to find the with net with 4:49 left before intermission.  Troll capped her day and the Barton scoring within the first two minutes of the second half when Barron found her just outside the eighteen for an arching shot over a leaping Prochaska.

Other notes:
Freshman Bianca Barron's four points on Monday moved her into third place on the season scoring list and fifth on the all-time record board.  Her lone goal also inches her one away from second place on season goals which would time her with Danielle Saucedo and Barton women's assistant coach Yesenia Garcia' twenty eight goals set in the 2010 and 2008 seasons respectively.
